Enhanced DBS checks for
Self-Employed Workers and Personal Employees
You can order an Enhanced DBS check for yourself if you are self‑employed or a personal employee and your role is legally eligible for Enhanced‑level screening.
You cannot apply directly to DBS; instead, you must apply through an Umbrella Body (e.g. us). We will confirm your role meets the legal criteria under the Exceptions Order.
Enhanced checks are strictly role‑based, not optional, and eligibility depends entirely on the nature of the work you perform with children or vulnerable adults. If your role qualifies, you may order an Enhanced check as a self‑employed worker or personal employee, and we will process it on your behalf.
